Rather than pushing free crapware onto people in place of paid-for crap, why not ban closed-source operating systems, so that all the bugs can be patched by the community?

The sad reality is most people will use Windows crapware, so at least they can save $$$ with freeware. The software I've recommended is far better then anything McAfee, Norton, Kaspersky has for sale.

Yes, this is the way to go. Bypass all these arguments about people being tempted into debt an rolling all debts onto a credit card with a rate of 15%.
If you can't afford it, save up to buy it. I think credit cards should be banned from civil society. Debit cards work just fine.

Credit cards have their uses. I got mine in 2007 when I was about to start a self-employed car delivery job, and I had to pay fuel and travel expenses up front and then claim the money back later. Where they become dangerous is when people use them when they don't have a regular income.
McAfee and Norton also have their own built in spyware which send info form your computer to the US government.

So, if anyone already has either of these, the first thing you need to do is get another antispyware and weed out the built in spyware from them.
I know you can because I've done it in the past when I was using them.
